Nao Tsuda "REBORN series", 2010-2022

As part of RYOSOKU's activities since 2018 to develop practical attempts to connect the entire temple precincts to the next generation, RYOSOKU will hold "Meditation Corridor #2," a special exhibition featuring works by Junya Ishigami, Hiroshi Sugimoto and Nao Tsuda.

The special exhibition is scheduled to open for five days from January 19 (Thu) to 23 (Mon), 2023. In an attempt to fuse and sublimate the heritage of Ryosoku-in with contemporary beauty, photographer Nao Tsuda spent time in Ryosoku-in several times to create a photographic work that echoes Ryosoku-in, and collaborate with calligraphy by Ryosoku-in vice-priest Toryo Ito.

In addition, architect Junya Ishigami exhibits sketches and models of future temple open space that will foster new values that will lead to the future. And also, fusuma sliding door and kakejiku hanging scroll by contemporary artist Hiroshi Sugimoto will be on view in Study Hall.
